First rang Oct. 17, 1865 at first school on Freemont St. Then moved to the second school building, which was a frame school
(before the brick school was built in 1910.)

Laying the cornerstone in the Kinmundy High School building - 1910; crane timbers were used to lay corner stone.
The copper box contents are preserved at Kinmundy's City Hall. (Elwyn Cheatum has the box).
"The Kinmundy Express” - June 2, 1910: The cornerstone of the new Kinmundy Public School Building was laid last Wednesday afternoon with appropriate services by the Board of Education and others. A large crowd was in attendance and the box was well filled with papers and other articles. The work on the building is progressing nicely and it looks now like the fall term of our school will open in the new building.
